Blue Safety Feet & Demarcation Lines
Accident Reduction:
Sites report a decrease of 66% in Accidents! The blue footprint initiative aims to fulfill this need through:
- Reflecting an existing 'culture', such as footprints used in schools to 'show the way’
- Guiding riders away from escalator edges by aligning their feet with the footprints
- Encouraging riders to stand still and keep to .GOV guidelines for social distancing.
- Additional yellow highlighting of the escalator entrance, exit and step edges to assist the elderly and those with impaired vision to better identify fixed and moving elements and enter/exit safely
As part of BS EN115 and the DDA recommendations regarding the safety of escalators, we now offer this as an on-site painting service. This safety project was initially carried out by Lend Lease and The Westfield Group in Australia. Dawson carried out the first Blue Feet Painting in the UK at Touchwood in Solihull on behalf of OTIS. This proved highly successful in accident reduction. Therefore, we are now offering this service across the UK & Ireland.
Social Distancing:
With COVID-19 continuing to spread and no vaccine or specific treatment yet available, social distancing is a viable way to slow the pandemic by making it more difficult for the virus to spread from person to person. No doubt this pandemic will have an everlasting effect on how we interact with each other in day to day life for years to come.
Currently the guide lines for social distancing state: 'Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times'
By adopting the blue safety feet you will help encourage your customers to keep their distance while moving through airports, train stations and shops. These measures will continue to keep the constant flow of people on the escalators and auto-walks, but simultaneously encourage them to social distance. These steps our one of many that will encourage people to stay safe once we return to normal life.
